The free plan is not meant for client work
WeTransfer's own pricing page describes the free plan as being for individual, non-commercial use. Handing a paying client the photographs they commissioned is commercial use. Most photographers delivering weddings over free WeTransfer have simply never read the line — it sits directly under the price.

Three gigabytes a month, ten transfers
The free plan is capped at 3 GB per month across 10 transfers. A single wedding delivered at full resolution does not fit once, let alone a month of them. The cap is the reason so many photographers quietly compress what they send — which undoes the work they were paid for.

The link dies before your client opens it
Free transfers expire after up to three days. Clients open galleries on a Sunday evening, two weeks later, from a phone, with their family around them. The expired-link message arriving weeks after delivery is not a client problem; it is a delivery-tool problem.

Paying does not make it a client gallery
Ultimate removes the size and expiry limits at €23 a month, but their page still describes it as being for individual use; working as a studio means Teams, at €19 per user per month with a two-user minimum. Either way you are paying for a bigger pipe, not for a gallery: no selections, no favourites, no full-screen viewing, no video player, and your client still lands on a page with somebody else’s name on it.

Who should stay on WeTransfer
If you are sending a file to a colleague, a retoucher or a lab, WeTransfer is the right tool and Galerist would be a silly way to do it. It is also better than us at raw transfer speed for enormous single files, and the paid plans remove the limits properly. The distinction is not quality, it is purpose: WeTransfer moves files between professionals, Galerist hands finished work to a client.

Is it really against the rules to deliver client work over free WeTransfer?
Their pricing page states the free plan is for individual, non-commercial use. We are not lawyers and we are not accusing anyone of anything: read the line yourself, it is printed under the €0. If you deliver paid work, the honest reading is that the free plan is not the plan for it.
Can I keep using WeTransfer for some things?
Of course, and most people should. Sending a 60 GB folder of raw footage to an editor is a transfer job. Handing a couple their wedding is a delivery job. They are different tasks and it is fine to use different tools.
What does it cost to deliver one gallery with Galerist?

My clients are used to the WeTransfer email. Will a gallery confuse them?
